TEPIC, Mexico, Sept. 2 (UPI) -- Police in Mexico have arrested the suspected leader of the New Juarez Cartel, Alberto Carrillo Fuentes, aka Ugly Betty, state-run Notimex reported.
The date and circumstances of Fuentes' arrest in the western state of Nayarit were not reported.
Fuentes is the brother of Amado Carrillo Fuentes, aka the Lord of the Skies, who died in 1997 during plastic surgery in an attempt to alter his appearance to avoid capture, Notimex reported. Amado Carrillo Fuentes earned his moniker due to the large fleet of jetliners he used to transport cocaine from Colombia to Mexico, CNN said Monday.
Fuentes' capture is the latest significant blow to drug trafficking in Mexico since President Enrique Pena Nieto took office in December, CNN said.
