Woman, 20, survives 80-foot fall from cliff in Canada

CARBONEAR, Newfoundland, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- A 20-year-old woman suffered only minor injuries this weekend when she fell about 80 feet from a cliff along the Newfoundland coast, authorities said.

The accident happened Saturday on a cliff overlooking Northern Bay, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. reported.

The Trinity-Conception office of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, the North Shore Fire Department and local residents worked together to rescue the woman, whose name had not been released, the CBC said.

St. John's, Newfoundland, radio station VOCM reported rescuers used a boat to get the woman from the beach to an ambulance, which then transported her to a hospital in Carbonear.
