ISLAMABAD, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Pakistani security officials said they sent reinforcements to the Kech (Turbat) district following a pitched battled with insurgents.

Ten militants were reported killed Saturday in the clash, which began when the insurgents ambushed a Frontier Constabulary convoy in the Mand area of Kech (Turbat).

The FC said its troops did not suffer any casualties in an exchange of heavy weapons fire while several other militants were wounded.

Dawn News said Kech (Turbat) is part of Balochistan and is the home district of the Balochistan chief minister, Abdul Malik Baloch. Government officials and security forces have been repeatedly targeted by militants during the past seven years.
