Muslim Brotherhood leader has heart attack

Aug. 31, 2013 at 5:09 PM   |   Comments

CAIRO, Aug. 31 (UPI) -- Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood Supreme Guide Mohammad Badie suffered a heart attack in prison and is in stable condition, the Egyptian Interior Ministry said.

A ministry spokesman denied initial rumors Badie had died while being held in Cairo's Tora prison and said a team of doctors has been dispatched to care for Badie, Ahram Online reported.

The Egyptian military arrested Badie and other top Muslim Brotherhood leaders, charging them with conspiring to kill protesters opposed to the rule of deposed President Mohammad Morsi.
