Lee Bonneau, 6, who was living with his foster mother, was found with head injuries in an open area along a treeline in a small First Nation community east of Regina last week about 90 minutes after he was last seen playing with some dogs outside a recreation center. He was pronounced dead a local hospital.
The CBC said it had learned the 12-year-old, whose name had not been released, had been taken into custody by social services, but that no charges had been brought against him because of his age.
The network said the Royal Canadian Mounted Police in the province were not releasing further details of the case.
