SANAA, Yemen, Aug. 30 (UPI) -- Two senior leaders of al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula were among six militants killed Friday in Yemen by U.S. drone strikes, local security officials say.

Qaed al-Thahab, AQAP's top leader in the country's Baitha province, was among the dead, CNN reported.

He was described as a "high-profile target."

Two unmanned drones launched eight missiles that targeted the militant's vehicles.
