KARACHI, Pakistan, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- At least eight people died Wednesday in Karachi, Pakistan, prompting Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to call a meeting to discuss increased violence in the city.
Police said a fresh wave of targeted attacks in two areas of Karachi resulted in:
-- One man shot to death in Baldia Town's Sector 19-D.
-- The deaths of two 25-year-old men, identified as Kalam and Khurram, near Wireless Gate on Shahra-e-Faisal and the Lines Area.
-- The torture deaths of three people in Jamia Milia, Pak Colony and Mewa Shah cemeteries.
-- The shooting death of one man at Korangi Crossing.
Information on the eighth death was not reported.
Three people were also injured in shooting incidents in Arambagh Docks and Malir-15, Geo TV News reported.
In response to the increased violence in Karachi, Sharif called for a special meeting of the cabinet next week.
