Rescue workers said the eyes of some of the victims had been removed, while others had been decapitated, Leadership Newspapers reported Saturday.
The attack by about 50 militants happened late Tuesday night in Dumba village in Borno state, but was not immediately reported because of the area's remoteness.
Dumba is located near Baga, a town about 120 miles from the state capital, Maiduguri.
Some of the houses in the village were set on fire, Vanguard reported.
Survivors took refuge at a school in Baga.
The National Emergency Management Agency said it had sent workers to the area to assess the amount of humanitarian aid needed for the survivors and those traumatized by the attack.
