The Beit Gamel Monastery sustained minor damage, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency reported. Investigators found the words "price tag" sprayed on the wall.
"Price tag" is a slogan used by extremists who say they are exacting retribution for Palestinian attacks on Jewish targets. While the settlers mostly attack Muslim facilities, some recent incidents have involved Christian targets.
A resident of the monastery told Ynetnews a plastic bottle filled with an accelerant exploded and shook some bricks loose but did not cause a fire.
"I'm not angry, but it insults me because they don't know us," he said. "The monastery wants to have good relations with the Jewish people; we're not here to pick a fight with anyone."
