BAMYAN, Afghanistan, Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Gunmen kidnapped two foreign aid workers in Afghanistan's Bamyan province, security officials said Wednesday.

Provincial security chief Gen. Abdul Razaq said the aid workers from the Aga Khan Development Network were on their way to Band-e-Amir national park when the gunmen abducted them, Khaama Press reported.

So far no group has claimed responsibility for the kidnappings.

Razaq said preliminary reports indicate the two workers are citizens of the United States.

Afghan police are searching.
