Interior Minister Marwan Charbel confirmed the seizure and arrests but declined to say the incident occurred in Naameh.

The Star said the alleged ringleader was among those detained and a fifth suspect was being sought.

Lebanon has been experiencing an uptick in violence believed to be tied to the bloody conflict in neighboring Syria.

It was not clear who the Naameh suspects were affiliated with, but the alleged car bomb was discovered parked near a municipal government building and an apartment house.
