The illegal reptiles were among about 100 snakes discovered on a property in Mission, British Columbia, CTV News reported Saturday
Provincial conservation service Inspector Chris Doyle said Friday the unidentified property owner didn't have a permit to keep the reticulated pythons, an aggressive species known to be a danger to humans and banned in the province.
"No one at that residence had a permit to possess those snakes and those snakes did pose a risk to public safety," he said.
The case is the latest incident involving pythons in Canada in recent days. Forty pythons were seized from a motel in Brantford, Ontario, this week and two young New Brunswick brothers were killed last week by a python that escaped from a pet shop below their apartment.
