Dmitry Vinogradov, 29, used two hunting rifles to shoot two women and three men to death on Nov. 7. A fourth man died later in the hospital, the state-run Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported.
Vinogradov posted a message on his social network page just prior to the shooting, saying he was disgusted with society and comparing humanity to cancer, RIA Novosti reported.
Reports said before the attack he had been drinking for several days.
Experts' examinations during an investigation determined Vinogradov was sane, despite his unbalanced mental state during the murders.
He faces a possible life sentence.
