Moscow court issues arrest warrant for Russian tycoon

MOSCOW, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- An arrest warrant for fugitive Russian real estate tycoon Sergei Polonsky was issued by a Moscow court Tuesday, court officials said.

Moscow's Tverskoi court also revealed Polonsky has been put on an international wanted list, the official Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported.

The former head of Russia's Mirax Group was charged in absentia last month in the embezzlement of more than $176.2 million from private investors in Moscow's Kutuzovskaya Milya residential construction project.

Polonsky is currently living in Israel and has applied for Israeli citizenship.

Russia is not the only country where Polonsky has run into problems with the law, the Russian news agency reported.

He and two friends were arrested in Cambodia last December on charges of attacking the crew of a boat ferrying the three from a Cambodian island to a nearby resort city.

His lawyer said Cambodian authorities released him on bail earlier this year to seek medical treatment.
