The value of the stolen gems was not immediately known.

The same shop was robbed in February when thieves gained access via a neighboring building and took 150 watches with an estimated value of $1.3 million.

On Sunday a man armed with a pistol made off with what may have been the biggest haul in history from the famed Cannes Carlton Hotel.

The armed robber left with jewelry valued at more than $136.6 million from an exhibition put on by the Leviev company.
