Suspected child rapist fatally beaten in North Ossetia

MOSCOW, July 30 (UPI) -- A man suspected of luring two little girls into his home and then sexually assaulting one of them has been beaten to death, investigators in North Ossetia said.

A statement issued by the regional Investigative Department said after hearing about the incident, unidentified persons beat the man who later died of his injuries, the official Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported.

It was not the first time that people suspected of sexually abusing children or convicted of pedophilia have been targeted in Russia.

In January, a convicted pedophile was beaten to death by two men in Russia's Siberian republic of Buryatia.

A manslaughter investigation has been opened in the North Ossetia case, the Investigative Department said.

The name of the victim or the town he was from have not been released.
