It is the first news revealing Ahmadinejad's plans after he leaves office on August 3, the date he hands over the reins of power to president elect Hassan Rouhani, Asharq al-Awsat reported.
Ahmadinejad recently received a permit from the Supreme Council of the Cultural Revolution, the body charged with granting licenses to build institutes of higher learning, the report said Sunday. The Council decided to grant Ahmadinejad a license in recognition of this dedication over the years he ruled as the country's president, the report said.
Named the University of Iranians, the institution will specialize in nanotechnology, aerospace, nuclear engineering and high-tech fields, officials said.
