Strauss-Kahn to face pimping trial in France

PARIS, July 26 (UPI) -- Former International Monetary Fund Chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn will face trial on pimping charges, French prosecutors said Friday.

Investigating magistrates decided he should be tried in connection with an alleged prostitution ring in Lille, France. Strauss-Kahn, once a French presidential hopeful, admitting attending sex parties there but said he was unaware some of the attendants were paid prostitutes, the BBC reported.

The case is the latest of sex-related allegations against Strauss-Kahn. He was arrested in 2011 in New York after a hotel maid claimed he attempted to rape her. Charges were dropped and a settlement was reached between Strauss-Kahn and the maid, Nafissatou Diallo.

An allegation of sexual assault in Paris in 2003 was dismissed, as was an investigation into an alleged gang rape in Washington in 2012 after the woman who made the claim retracted her evidence, the BBC said.
