Hamas' attorney-general ordered al-Arabiya and Ma'an News Agency to close their offices in Gaza City Thursday, Ma'an reported.
Later, a number of Palestinian factions condemned Hamas' move.
The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine called on Hamas to reverse its decision, calling the closure of media offices repressive.
The Palestinian National Initiative also called on Hamas to reconsider its decision, as did the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, and Fatah, which further called on Arab media organizations and human rights groups to act against threats to the media.
