At least 16 people dead in China truck accident

BEIJING, July 24 (UPI) -- At least 16 farmworkers, mostly women, died when the truck transporting them overturned on a highway in China, authorities said Wednesday.

Ten other people on the truck were injured in the incident in Nanfeng County in east China's Jiangxi province, Xinhua News Agency reported.

The report said the victims were returning home from their jobs in neighboring Fujian province.

The report said 15 of the victims died at the scene and the 16th victim died at a hospital. The injured were also taken to local hospitals.

Local police were investigating the incident.
