Spanish police looking for Swede in slaying of woman

LAS PALMAS, Canary Islands, July 18 (UPI) -- Police on Spain's Canary Islands are looking for a Swedish man accused of the killing of a 32-year-old women in Las Palmas, officials said.

The suspect, whose name was not reported, is in his 30s and believed to have stabbed Angela del Carmen in the neck leaving her to die in an apartment he rented in Las Palmas on the island of Gran Canaria, The Local.se reported.

The victim's body was discovered after neighbors noticed a smell coming from the apartment. Police said they believe she was killed on July 4th or 5th.

"We have received information from Spanish police that a Swedish man is wanted by Interpol," said Linn Duvhammar at the Swedish Foreign Ministry Thursday.

The suspect was described as tall, well-built, blonde and tattooed.
