Zeng Shan of Human province said she was waiting for the results of a sentence review by the Supreme People's Court when she was told her father had been executed, China Daily reported.
"She couldn't accept it, and that is why she wrote about it on her micro blog," said the family's lawyer.
A court spokesman said the panel was unable to get in touch with Zeng Shan because it did not have her contact information.
Instead of notifying her, the court asked another family member to collect her father's ashes.
He was sentenced to death in May 2011 for illegal fundraising.
