No accord after 11th round of peace talks with Colombian rebels

July 10, 2013 at 10:06 AM   |   Comments

BOGOTA, July 10 (UPI) -- Peace talks between the Colombian government and the rebel group FARC have completed an 11th round without reaching an accord, a FARC spokesman said.

The spokesman told Colombia Reports the two sides have failed to reach agreement on the issue of political participation.

"There are still contrary positions and there is a debate that should not scare us," the FARC spokesman said.

The guerrilla group continues to stress the need for restructuring the Colombia state.

The two sides are scheduled to resume talks on July 22.
