Indian temple where two died in blasts reopened to public

BIHAR, India, July 8 (UPI) -- Monks from 50 countries gathered Monday at a Buddhist temple in India where two monks died in a series of blasts, a temple official said.

Arvind Singh, a member of a committee that manages the Bodh Gaya temple, said the temple remained open to the monks after it was damaged by 10 explosions Sunday, the Press Trust of India reported.

Thousands of people waited in line to enter the temple, which was reopened to the public Monday.

Singh said visitors underwent a "thorough search" by police and temple security staff.

Damage to the Mahabodhi Temple, comprised of monasteries representing 50 countries, was said to be minimal.

Indian Home Secretary Anil Goswami called the explosions a terror attack.
