BAGHDAD, July 8 (UPI) -- A dozen people were killed and three others were wounded in two attacks near Baghdad, Iraqi police said.

A bomb explosion Monday morning near a youth center in Madain, about 19 miles southeast of the capital, killed six people and injured three, China's Xinhua News Agency reported.

Late Sunday, a police officer, his wife, two children and his parents were killed when gunmen opened fire on a vehicle in which they were riding outside Mussayab, about 25 miles south of Baghdad, police said.
