"A person is reported to have jumped in and taken the vehicle when the ice cream was outside," said Pontus Bjuring Gerlich at the Vastra Sormland emergency services.

Emergency services personnel were dispatched to the scene but were unable to save the man who was hit by the truck.

After allegedly hitting the man on the road, the suspect veered off the road and landed in a field, the report said.
