Imam attack by unidentified gunmen in Dagestan

KOHABROSSO, Russia, June 23 (UPI) -- Unidentified men in Russia's Dagestan region attacked an Imam of a mosque and wounded his wife and son, officials said.

The incident happened in the village of Kohabrosso in Dagestan's Untsukulsky district, RIA Novosti reported Sunday.

Dagestan's Interior Ministry said: "Three unidentified men broke into the Mufti's house and tried to kill him."

The newspaper said the attackers opened fire at the Imam, who then returned fire. The Imam's son and wife were injured in the incident and hospitalized.
