The head of the Hakkari Gendarmerie Army Corps Command and the head of the Third Division Command were aboard the craft when it was shot four times Thursday evening from the Ikiyaka Mountains in the southeastern province of Hakkari, the military said in a statement.

The statement attributed the shots to "terrorist groups," Hurriyet Daily News reported.

The jailed leader of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) called on members of the group in March to withdraw from Turkish soil. Turkey and some Western countries consider the PKK a terrorist group.
