The National Hurricane Center has issued a tropical storm warning for the southern coast of Mexico from Punta el Lagarto to Tuxpan, as Barry will be accompanied by winds as high as 45 mph and as much as 10 inches of rainfall.
Flash flooding and mudslides are possible, especially in mountainous areas, the center said.
The storm, which is moving westward at a speed of about 5 mph, will likely weaken Thursday night, the center said.
