VIELHA E MIJARAN, Spain, June 20 (UPI) -- Torrential rains in Spain have caused massive flooding, prompting the evacuation of hundreds of people in northern Spain, officials said.
The floods have washed out roads, bridges and homes, as well as knocked out power to more than 4,000 homes, forced school closures, and interrupted cell phone service for many people in Spain's Aragon and Catalunya regions, ThinkSpain reported Wednesday.
So far, there have been no reports of injuries.
Most of the damage has been reported near the Pyrenees mountains, which has melting snow caps, contributing to the flooding.
Authorities in the Aran Valley below the mountains said the situation is "absolutely out of control," has the floods have divided the area into three sections that are completely inaccessible.
