80 villagers in China hospitalized with vomiting, headaches

SHIZI, China, June 16 (UPI) -- More than 80 villagers were hospitalized with possible food poisoning after they attended a temple gather in China's Shaanxi Province, local authorities said.

The villagers began experiencing symptoms of headache and vomiting at about 7 p.m. Saturday night after the gathering in Shizi Village, Zichang County, the county's publicity department said.

Officials have launched an investigation into the cause of the illnesses, China's Xinhua news agency reported Saturday.
