World War II German bombs, grenades still dangerous in Norway

OSLO, Norway, June 13 (UPI) -- More than 200,000 tons of German explosives dumped all over Norway following World War II are still dangerous, officials said.

A recent report created for the Norwegian government found that at the time of the dumping, no mapping was done to mark where the German bombs and grenades were left, NRK (the Norwegian Broadcasting Corp.) reported.

The report said the bombs and grenades could still explode.

Bomb squads are sent on 250 to 300 missions each year to destroy war-time explosives, NRK said.
