ISLAMABAD, June 11 (UPI) -- Former Pakistan military leader Pervez Musharraf was granted bail Tuesday as he awaits trial on charges he illegally jailed 60 judges in 2007, officials say.
The Islamabad High Court ordered him to deposit surety bonds worth about $8,500, Dawn.com reported.
However, a court in Quetta rejected Musharraf application for bail in a case in which the former strongman is accused of involvement in the death of reputed Balochistan warlord Akbar Bugti in 2006. The judge also turned down Musharraf's request to move the trial to Islamabad.
Sohail Rajput, a lawyer for one of Bugti's sons, said the Quetta court turned down the requests because Musharraf had repeatedly defied summons to appear in court.
In a third case, Musharraf was exempted from appearing before an anti-terror court in Rawalpindi in which he charged with involvement in the death of Benazir Bhutto in 2007.
