Sweden's Princess Madeleine gets married

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 8 (UPI) -- Swedish Princess Madeleine was married to American Chris O'Neill Saturday in a ceremony sealed with a public kiss by the newlyweds at the palace in Stockholm.

The couple tied the knot at the packed Royal Chapel Saturday afternoon and then were whisked away by horse-drawn carriage to the palace for further festivities.

Onlookers and well-wishers lined the procession route under a partly cloudy sky for a glimpse of the princess, who was dressed in a white gown that STV fashion expert Marina Kereklidou called "very nice."

"It fit her well," Kereklidou said. "I would even go as far as to say is was rather sweet. But it wasn't as extravagant as it could have been."

The Local reported Queen Silvia was decked out in mint green during the ceremony. Her 1-year-old granddaughter, Princess Estelle, apparently grew bored and left her seat to join her mom, Crown Princess Victoria, who was giving a reading.
