MANALI, India, June 4 (UPI) -- An American woman allegedly was raped by two people in the Indian tourist resort of Manali, police said Tuesday.

The 30-year-old woman had visited the old Vashisth area to meet friends and was allegedly raped Monday by two people who gave her a ride back to Manali, Press Trust of India reported.

In her complaint, she said two men raped her and stole her iPhone and cash. She said the accused, described as men between the ages of 18 to 25 years, fled when they were done.

Officials said the police were following up on information about the vehicle.

PTI said the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi was informed about the rape case filed by police.
