PRETORIA, South Africa, June 3 (UPI) -- Olympian Oscar Pistorius has been attending church but has rarely left home since he was released from a South African jail in February, his family said.
The double amputee who ran on metal blades in the 2012 Olympics is due in court Tuesday for a hearing on the shooting death of his girlfriend, model Reeva Steenkamp. Pistorius has said he shot her four times through a bathroom door because he believed her to be an intruder.
It is likely his trial will be postponed until August, observers have said.
Pistorius, 26, has been living with his aunt and uncle, Lois and Arnold Pistorius, at their luxury home in Pretoria, South Africa, Britain's Guardian reported Sunday.
He "rarely goes out," Lois Pistorius said.
"It's very difficult for him. He reads a lot of stuff, newspapers, the Bible, he's doing some work on the computer. He's been going to church and people from the church are visiting him."
She said the family brought exercise equipment to the home for him to use and he goes to a gym.
"It happened on 14 February. Where are we now? Three and a half months later. Things must go back to normal. We hope he will compete again one day because he's got the natural talent," Lois Pistorius said.
