Taliban kills high school principal in Pakistan

June 2, 2013 at 10:44 AM

PASTAWANA, Pakistan, June 2 (UPI) -- Taliban militants in Pakistan allegedly killed the principal of a government high school in Pastawana, officials said.

Armed militants entered the home of Haji Rehman Saturday night and opened fire, killing the principal, local residents told The Express News.

It was unclear why Rehman was targeted, the newspaper said.

"Probably he was considered pro-government by the militants and that was why he was killed in cold blood," said a local elder on the condition of anonymity.

The was the first incident in which a government employee other than Khasadar forces and Levies soldiers has been targeted, the newspaper said.
