AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, May 30 (UPI) -- Prosecutors in the Netherlands said a man accused of starving, raping and threatening five women, was obsessed with weight and anorexia.

A 44-year-old man identified only as Bob J allegedly found vulnerable, young girls on pro-anorexia websites and attacked them from October 2006 through April 2012, Dutchnews.nl reported.

Prosecutors said he allegedly encouraged his victims to lose weight, bought them scales as presents and drugged them to relieve hunger pangs.

One of the victims said she was told to aspire to weigh less than 70 pounds and other women lost dozens of pounds at J's request, the news website said.

J allegedly posed as a therapist to his victims and persuaded them to live in his home.

J denies the charges and said sex with the women was voluntary. He said reports he forced one woman into prostitution was false.

"That was what she wanted," he told the court. "She is an adult."

J had allegedly been overweight himself but undertook a weight-loss regime after his marriage ended, Dutchnews.nl said.
