Chechen honorary consul to Turkey killed in Ankara

ANKARA, Turkey, May 23 (UPI) -- The honorary consul for Chechnya in Turkey was assassinated Thursday in Ankara, officials say.

Medet Unlu was shot several times at the consulate building and died at the scene, Today's Zaman reported.

Unlu's relatives claimed Chechen leader Ramazan Kadirov, son of former Chechen President Ahmed Kadirov, is responsible for the killing.

An autopsy will be conducted.
