KHOST CITY, Afghanistan, May 18 (UPI) -- Two people died and at least 13 were injured Saturday in two separate roadside bomb explosions in Afghanistan, police said.

An explosion in Khost city killed an Afghan border police guard and injured three others, as well as six civilians, provincial security chief Mohammad Yaqoub said.

One person died in another explosion in eastern Paktika province in the Yahya Khel district when a tractor struck a roadside bomb, Khaama Press reported. Three children and a woman were injured in the blast, the provincial governor's media office said in a statement.

Meanwhile, six people died and 70 others were injured Friday evening after twin explosions in southern Kandahar province, provincial governor spokesman Gen. Abdul Razaq said.

Razaq said one explosion was a suicide bomb and the other was a remotely detonated vehicle packed with explosives in Aino Meena.

Six people, including three Afghan security officers died in Friday's blasts, Razaq said, though provincial governor spokesman for Kandahar province Javid Faisal said those numbers were closer to nine dead with 50 injuries.

No group has claimed responsibility for Friday's attacks.
