Mother sought after toddler's body found in house

BICESTER, England, May 18 (UPI) -- An autopsy failed to determine what killed a toddler found in a house in central England, police said Friday.

Officers doing a welfare check Thursday found the body of 20-month-old Sarah Dahane in Bicester, Oxfordshire, the Daily Mirror reported. Her mother was not there and investigators say she apparently flew to Kenya on Wednesday night.

Sarah's body was identified by her father, Nabil Dahane, who is separated from her mother. He also left flowers outside the house where his daughter died.

"You have meant the world to me," he said in a message. "The time spent with you, though it has been cut very short, was an absolute joy and the sweet memories will stay with me for as long as I live."

Detective Chief Inspector Ian Hunter said investigators are working with authorities in Kenya to try to locate the mother. He said police are waiting for the results of tests to find the cause of death.

"While we are working with those individuals and authorities that were in contact with both Sarah and her mother prior to her death, we urgently wish to speak to Sarah's mother to better understand exactly what has happened," Hunter said. "We strongly urge her to present herself to the authorities."
