The flooding triggered a landslide that blocked a railway near the city of Trento and 80 people were evacuated from two buildings in Lombardy after the foundations were weakened by the flood. A woman was rescued from her car after it was buried in a mudslide near Verona.

The governor of the Veneto region said he would request over a half billion euros ($641 million) in government assistance.

The rains are expected to last five more days, ANSA said.
