PEDRALBA, Spain, May 16 (UPI) -- A grandfather in Pedralba, Spain, was attacked with an ax by two of his neighbors over a video recorded on a cell phone, officials said.
Two brothers confronted the older man after one of their family members recorded video his grandson with a cell phone, The Local.es reported Thursday. The subject of the video was unclear.
The argument became heated and one of the brothers grabbed an ax and began hitting the grandfather in the head, police said. The victim's daughter and her husband were unable to stop the attack and were also punched and hit with the ax by the suspects, police said.
A witness at the scene told the online daily Las Provincias, "The attack was brutal."
The victims managed to call police and explain the situation. They were transported to a local hospital.
Emergency services initially said the grandfather was in critical condition because of deep cuts he sustained to the skull, but later his condition was improving.
The brothers later were sentenced to prison time for attempted homicide in the case.
