KABUL, Afghanistan, May 13 (UPI) -- A roadside bomb was detonated in Afghanistan's Kandahar province Monday, killing at least 10 civilians, including seven women, officials said.

Officials said the vehicle struck the bomb about noon local time between Maruf and Arghistan districts, Khaama Press reported.

At least another 12 people, all women and children, were injured, provincial security chief Gen. Abdul Razaq said.

No group had claimed responsibility soon after the incident.

At least two people were killed Sunday in Kandahar province during a night operation conducted by coalition security forces, local officials said.

Local officials said coalition security forces also detained at least four Afghan civilians during the operation.

Residents claimed the security forces attacked a civilian house on suspicions the house was used by militants.

International Security Assistance Force officials denied the claim, saying an Afghan and coalition security force killed two insurgents, of which one was a Taliban leader, Wahidullah Khan, and detained others. The troops also seized bomb-making material, two guns and several magazines, ISAF officials said.
