VICENZA, Italy, May 11 (UPI) -- A 31-year-old Italian woman was hospitalized after being attacked by two men who poured acid on her, officials said.

The suspects, two hooded men, entered the woman's home in the northern city of Vicenza Friday, made her lie down and poured acid on her, Italy's ANSA news agency reported.

The woman was taken to a hospital with minor burns on one of her arms and her bottom, the report said.

This was the third of such attacks to take place in Italy within the past month.

Earlier in May, a man on a scooter threw hydrochloric acid into the face of a 32-year-old pregnant woman, missing her eyes, as she was entering a hospital for a prenatal checkup.

In April, acid was thrown in the face of a 35-year-old attorney. Three people have been arrested in connection with that case.
