The death of Myrna Letandre, who was 37 when she was last seen in October 2006, is being treated as a homicide, the Winnipeg Free Press reported.
Police began searching the house this week after the arrest of a former Winnipeg resident charged with killing his wife in British Columbia. Traigo Ehkid Andretti, 41, and his wife, Jennifer McPherson, 37, had lived in the Winnipeg house where Letandre's body was found.
The couple had been working as caretakers at the Pacific Outback Resort on Hanson Island. McPherson was reported missing April 29 and her remains were found Monday on a remote island.
Police have released few details about the investigation into Letandre's death, although they said forensic evidence was found at the rooming house. The house has been empty for at least six months.
