Six teens on trial in Sweden for gang rape

May 10, 2013 at 2:49 PM   |   Comments

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, May 10 (UPI) -- Six teenage boys are on trial in Sweden for gang rape, and prosecutors say they will argue one handed out condoms to the other five during the alleged attack.

The incident allegedly occurred in the Stockholm suburb of Tensta in March, and after a manhunt by police, the six, ages 15 to 17, were arrested. Charges of aggravated rape were filed against five, while the sixth faces a charge of attempted aggravated rape, the Swedish news agency TT and TheLocal.se reported Friday.

Although a witness claims to have overheard the boys planning the rape, the defendants have denied the allegations, the news agency said.

Except for referring to DNA and data from the cellphones of two of the boys, police have not offered further details in the case.
