North Kosovo Serbs protest Brussels agreement

BELGRADE, Serbia, May 10 (UPI) -- Several thousand northern Kosovo Serbs protested in Belgrade Friday against implementation a territorial agreement between Serbia and Kosovo.

The northern Kosovo Serbs, who said they are concerned that implementation of the Brussels agreement would put them under Pristina's control, started their "We are staying in Serbia" rally at 12:44 p.m. a reference to U.N. Security Council Resolution 1244, the Serbian news agency Tanjug reported.

The demonstrators in Republic Square shouted "treason" and other slogans against Serbian Prime Minister Ivica Dacic, and carried posters of First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and President Tomislav Nikolic with banners declaring "They betrayed Kosovo."

"The main goal of the rally is to show that Kosovo is not for sale or to be handed over, regardless of social and economic conditions in the country and that it is not true that the majority of Serbians believe that Kosovo should just be handed over," Zubin Potok Mayor Slavisa Ristic said.

In Serbia reported Ristic said Dacic and Vucic have told Kosovo Serbs they have to accept the agreement "because everything is already done and they told us that we cannot do nothing about it."

"They are the traitors, they betrayed Serbia and everything it represents," he said. "They betrayed Serbian people. Help us to save our country. It is time to unite and save Serbia from them."
