Mubarak ordered to remain in detention for additional 15 days

CAIRO, May 8 (UPI) -- Former Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will remain in detention for an additional 15 days over graft charges, Egypt's Illicit Gains Authority said Wednesday.

A panel of the authority is questioning Mubarak at Tora Prison where he has been held since mid-April following hospitalization, Ahram Online reported.

Mubarak, 84, was sentenced to life in prison last June after being convicted of failing to protect protesters during the revolution that toppled him.

He is to be retried on those charges this month due to procedural failings during his first trial last June.

Mubarak's interior minister and six of his top aides also face retrial for their role in the deaths of protesters during Egypt's 2011 uprising.
