AMETHI, India, May 8 (UPI) -- Police said they have arrested three people, including a liquor supplier, after five people died in Amethi, India, from drinking illegal alcohol.

The victims drank the liquor during an entertainment program in a nearby village and quickly fell ill. They were taken to a hospital, where they died Tuesday night, the Indo-Asian News Service said.

Their bodies were sent for an autopsy, police said.

Three others who drank the liquor remain ill in the hospital.

Authorities raided all the shops selling liquor in the area and seized all liquor pouches and bottles, the news service said.
